I agree. I bought a Beomaster 3000 and Beocord 3000 in the '70s. Shortly afterwards, I moved to Tokyo. After a couple of years I had to replace several caps in the Beomaster 3000. The caps were garbage (Siemens?) and had an orange plastic casing. I dumped the Beomaster 3000 and bought a Sansui AU-707.
Then the Beocord started chewing tapes. Since B&O didn't have service support in Japan, I cheekily took it to Sansui for repair! The service man was gob-smacked at first but really helpful. He pointed out the design defects (massive flywheel, etc.) and a week later, my Beocord 3000 was working better than new. I promptly dumped it and bought a Nak 700.
Never bought B&O again.
