Hearing aids...

Passages...

I'm 72+ and will be having my first hearing test for hearing aids. Does anyone have any experience with "high fidelity" and hearing aids?

I know for certain that much above 12kHz is gone now. Will hearing aids help regain some of the lost high notes I miss? Most especially in voices, strings and flutes. Plus much of what I do hear seems duller.

System currently: Pass Labs Aleph P Preamp, W4SST500 amp, Totem Acoustics Dreamcatcher speakers, 4 year old OPPO for CD/DVD. Listening room is unexceptional.

Any anecdotes, advice, factual accounts will be appreciated...
