Both are important, at least to me. And I suspect that both things are important to most other people too. "Love they neighbor as thyself" is as good a rule as any but that can be a hard rule to follow unless you know that everyone you deal with is going to follow that same rule.So, if confronted with the choice of paying some poor and ignorant widow full market price for a desirable and/or valuable item or taking it away for a fraction of that price, what will I do? I, for one, don't like to think of what I MIGHT do so please don't make me think about it.
"Let him who is without sin cast the first stone" is another perfectly good and logical rule that I can't always be counted on to heed or obey. Life is like a sticky spiderweb sometimes, as I'm sure you know.
