RE: highest value component in your system

I think value is a very important question, but I understand as well as any that system design and synergy are extremely important too. But, as my funds are not infinite, I have to consider value. I consider cost an interesting, important constraint.

For me, quality, old vacuum tubes have been the value leaders, by far.
They have transformed the sound of my system for the least $$.

In particular, one cheap ($19) NOS rectifier tube, a Raytheon 5Y3GT, sound s fantastic in my phono stage.

Another standout, at a much higher cost, is a cartridge: SoundSmith Aida.
