I've owned a couple of dozen systems (but who's counting?)over 40+ years, and I've learned that, for me at least, there are two major pitfalls:
1) matching of components; and 2) avoiding lateral moves. The latter was first pointed out to me by a dealer who was a savvy marketer as well.
Still, upgrading is half the fun. Hearing and appreciating upgrades is the other half.
