Last week, a friend used Amazon Prime to his great advantage. Needing four new tires for his truck, he procured quotes from the areas two biggest discounters: "Tire Barn" and "Big O." They quoted him $1200 and $1129 respectively.
At that point he hung up the phone, clicked on Amazon, and purchased the same tires for $769.00. They were delivered (free) two days later. Actually, he paid a bit more than was required in order to get an extended warranty that allows him to receive warranty work locally, should it be needed.
Amazon Prime more than paid for itself with that one purchase.
