Just had a drive of music fail last week...

And while I had backed up some of it not all of it. The drive works but it is asking me to format the drive - which will in turn delete the drive. Music sounds better from the CD player to the DAC than the computer but the computer does have a convenience advantage. Err except when you lose a boatload of music due to a drive failure.

Rather than the portable drives I will probably go to some powered external Raid 1 set-up this time rather than a bunch of USB powered drives where I forget what I have on which drive - so I wind up backing up things on 3-4 drives and other things I forget to back up at all. I backed up mp3 128 quality stuff but in this case didn't with the FLAC and so now I have to load all the CD's back in and do it all again.

CD from the CD player sounds better which is a bit of a de-motivator.
