I remember a while ago someone here posted a link to Deep Purple doing No no no on a European show. Its a test take. Just youtube deep purple no no no take 2. Phenomenal rendition and showmanship.
The older I get the less interested in Metal and heavy aggressive stuff. Only 34 now so once Im in my 60s Ill be listening to aural music and enya LOL. Just really like soulful rich music. Music that conveys deep feelings the way many here describe their gear. I find I want my music they way many describe wanting their gear. And want my gear plain, honest, stout and reliable.
As Todd A pointed out, Mark Knopfler would make a great addition to that lineup. I recently found The Notting Hillbillies - Missing Presumed Having a Good Time. Couldnt like it more. I find I dig allot of his project band work. In my youth I never got into Dire Straits as I and many had Money for Nothing shoved down our throats and figured that was their sound. Wow, what a terrible summary of Dire's work. Im sure Mark is bummed seeing that is often the most well known. Love all their albums now. Thought On Every Street was a great LP to go out on. Sad how its reviewed half hearted. But their often wrong.
Also picked up Johnnie Johnson - Johnnie Be Back. Great album. Looking at who sits in on it is a whos who of music for some. Recently been very lucky finding great blues CDs thrifting. I often just buy on label alone.
No doubt part of why rock was so well done in the 50s-70s was the heavy blues influence of the time. What else did they have to be influenced by for many. Its part of why Im optimistic there may be a second coming of great popular music. The net offers so much exposure to the masses. Those who care about real music can find it. And talented artists have never gone away. They just arnt the big draw now. Lets hope history repeats itself as it often does and talented artists find themselves the big draw once again. Not that many of em want or need it ;-)
