square wave test on speakers

Its a good question. :)

I'm not sure I see a value in square wave testing of speakers. Square waves are inherently dangerous to speaker coils causing excessive heat build up in windings. One can easily damage their speaker with a square wave test. I would recommend against it.

However, I'm all for square wave testing an amplifier. It gives a good indication of an ampifier's transient response.
