I went through my McIntosh phase back in 1970. Went to the local dealer and fell for the glossy black faceplates and blue meters of a C28 pre and a MC 2105 amp. Kept them for six years, then replaced them with a GAS Son of Ampzilla amp and Thalia pre.
IMO, the Mac gear was okay but I liked the sound of the GAS stuff more. I really should have opted for an MC275 and C22 instead of the SS Mac gear. Had I done that I might still have them today. Shoulda, coulda, woulda ;-)
There's a Best Buy/Magnoila store about 25 miles away. I haven't been there in years after being ignored by the "salesmen" in the Magnolia section. It seemed that they were more interested in BS-ing among themselves rather than bothering with a potential customer. Perhaps I'll drop in the next time I'm in the area. I'm curious to see what they've done with McIntosh.
Cheers,
Al
