Oops. Looks like I spoke too soon. The unexpected automatic increase in volume still seems to be an issue. However, since it was suggested that the volume control on the remote might be "locked" (& thus sending an intermittent signal to the receiver), I took the batteries out of the remote to see if that might resolve the issue. I will report back.
