RE: "No right-left stuff, at all."

I don't think I've ever heard a live performance without any "right-left stuff" at all. In most live events I do hear some specificity in imaging and soundstaging, but these effects usually exist within the larger context of a unified soundfield. It is true 3-D stereo, rather than the rough equivalent of such that we're used to hearing in our home stereo systems.

So, while home stereo systems might overdo the "right-left" thing, I would not say that these so-called "stereo effects" are completely nonexistent in real life.
