Seems like Panasonic is wanting to dip into the high end, in my mind this is a "what are you thinking" moment. This gear will have to knock your socks off to get respect especially in the range they are shooting for. Past Technics to me has always been a decent entry level brand but I've never considered it high end or even approaching mid-fi. I do have to admit for the price their CD players with the MASH circuitry sounded good. Marantz seems to be the only brand I'm aware of who seems to get away with successfully marketing entry and high end gear. The writer did say though Technics had technology he hasn't seen before. As good as the Onkyo Reference looks I get the impression it hasn't taken off as big as the company might have liked. I know my thoughts here are coming out random but back to the Technics, it's also interesting that they didn't just start with a couple components, they have an entire system including speakers. This is an ambitious move.
