Yes I do,it is a incorrect assumption to think that the "YAT" perspective won't work for any type of recording.
In truth,unless you are willing to do some extra work to lower your overall "noise floor" to just a bit lower than what you can actually hear,"YAT" may be distracting.
I was listening to a David Wilcox CD "Into the Mystery" the other day that sounded just excellent. It sounds like a few cuts may have been recorded in his home studio.It sounded like Dave was singing & playing his "Olson" acoustic guitar (If you listen you can hear the similarities to the tone of"JT's" Olson guitar)...here!
I'm not sure how or where it started that NOS DACs are "1 trick ponies" as far as listening perpectives go. It may just be poor system implementation or choice of playback material (oh yeah...a lot of recordings are "suspect" due to production value SQ choices made)
