I have an older 550c which essentially is the same except the dac chip setup.

Use whatever sounds "right" to YOU. There isn't a "correct" setting.
Even the manual states this.
Personally, I can't hear any difference between the 2 settings.

The settings are called "sharp" roll-off and "slow" roll-off.
