"Pinpoint Imaging" is a phenomena of speakers and recording studios, not of live music.
Oh, and I'm one who listens either in the dark, or with my eyes closed too. Not to right-size the instruments (because that doesn't change for me), but to shut off any visual distractions and better immerse myself in the music.
Whether I was in a dealer's listening room, or when I was a member of an audio club, I often saw people listening with their eyes closed.
