If, for instance, you try using three 1" sorbothane domes beneath your CD player and you notice an improvement in sound, try adding a fourth or a fifth, etc.., until you feel that the sound no longer continues to improve and/or it starts to degrade. Then, back off again to the appropriate number of domes. You might also try moving the domes around to different spots beneath the component, because you might find one single geometrical configuration that sounds better than any other. Experimentation is the final key, not only for the number of domes but also for sizes, shapes, and geometrical configurations.
