Sometimes you'll see weight recommendations given for sorbothane products. You just have to make sure that those recommendations are the correct ones for use with audio applications. Industrial applications might require completely different choices in the size, shape, and durometer rating of sorbothane products. That said, a little personal experimentation with size, shape, and durometer rating may prove to be enlightening. Buying 1/8" thick sheets of sticky black sorbothane from places like Edmunds Scientific allows you to cut up your own pieces for experimentation with sizes, shapes, stacked layers, etc... Just remember to protect valuable wooden furnishings or floors from direct contact with fresh sorbothane, because it sometimes leaves behind an oily residue that is difficult to remove.
