my experience with BAT

206.173.186.115

Rod M and I were auditioning the Dunlavy SC-IV/A speakers and the VK-60's amps and the VK-5i preamp both had to be taken out of the system after about 5 minutes of listening. It started with some weird sounding anomalies that I knew were not on the cd's I had brought. I pointed it out to Rod and he had the audio shop folks sort it out. The result? both the preamp and the amps had something wrong and were removed from the system. When I asked what the problem was, they said they weren't sure but the amps had some dying tubes possibly and the preamp "had something weird go wrong with it".

Since then, I've asked Rod to find out what the final analysis was on those pieces we heard go down that night. I've also heard from other audiophiles that BAT has a reputation for having reliability problems. Before I really start getting judgemental about BAT, I want to know what 'really' happened to the equipment that night.
