Final Pics from CES

Here's the last of the most interesting pics.....

Red Rock showed some quite reasonably priced products and delivered excellent sound with Merlin VSM speakers. There's a Teres Project table, the Red Rock phono preamp (Brio, nice sound at $725), the Ecstasy preamp ($1,775) and Theater Monoblocks (70w EL-34, $3,375).

Herron's phono and preamp was mated with a Burmeister digital system and unknown table and new Audio Physics Class D digital amps driving the AP Alante speakers in one of the 5 best rooms.

One of my favorites, the SoundLabs Millenium-1 ($14K) driven by Wolcott Presence monoblocks rated at 170 watts with 8 EL34s.

Ah, those Italians, beautiful to look at and great sounding. The unit on the top right is a Nightingale Armonia flanked by the Vyger Atlantic table on the left.

Wavelength Cardinals were paired with AVS DB-100s. Ok, I'll say it one more time, this setup sounded great as much as I hated this speaker in a previous listen.

Did you get the impression that there was lots of tube gear? Powering the Zingali speakers was a huge array of Cadence gear. The strange looking blue box with angled tubes is the Canasya, $25K, 845 tubes and rated at 200 watts in Class AB or 50 watts in Class A.

Threshold is back with a new organization and new products based on the Stasis architecture.

What show is complete without an all Quad system? I'll leave it to Oak to comment. It was nice, but didn't do it for me.

Eminent? Naw, they don't stack up to the Quads or the SoundLabs in my mind, but they are far less expensive.

The Talon Khorus and Electro Companiet, another poor pairing and poor showing, er, sounding system.

Now Usher was quite interesting and had a great sounding room. It's a company from Taiwan and the speaker pictured (CP 8871, $8,500) is, as the brochure suggests, drop dead gorgeous, as were all of the offerings.

Wegg3, Lunare 1, hey it looks cool. They weren't hooked up.

ASL had more tube gear than anyone and all of it is down right cheap as well as nicely built. Here's the ASL 845 based integrated with the Reference 3A speaker.

Convergent Audio Technology JL2.

deHavilland GM-70, $10K, 30 watts with a Ulyanov GM-70 tube.

Eye candy from JJ Electronic of Slovakia.

Lamm ML1 amps were paired by Kharma with excellent results.

Western Electric 300B monos. Do they work? I don't know, but they do look great.

And here's a little more:
