Best of CES Awards

64.12.103.26

TechTV, the media communications arm of the Electronic Industries Association, presented Best of CES awards to 12 products in 12 categories including three audio categories: Home Theater, Marine/Automotive, and High End Audio. Out of 261 exhibitors 35 were preselected as nominees (although any company which nominated a product itself was made part of the judging). Criteria for the award were utility, advancement of the art, value, and sound quality. The 35 nominess were narrowed to 3 finalists:

ER Audio tube amplifiers from Russia ($35,000)
ARCAM AV 8 preamp-processor (price?)
VMPS RM 40 Ribbon Loudspeaker ($4600pr)

A team of 26 judges voted and an awards ceremony, broadcast live worldwide on the TechTV cable network, was held Thursday evening Jan 10. Note that the High End exhibitors at the Tuscany (THE Expo) were excluded from the competition, as they were not considered part of CES. All nominees were Alexis Park exhibitors.

The winner of the 2002 Best of CES Award in the High End Audio category, who rates a trophy, placard, and the product's appearance next Wednesday on the Regis Philbin Show along with the other 11 winners in their respective categories, was...

The VMPS RM 40 Ribbon speaker system.

Thought you'd like to know about a happy occurrance in the life of a fellow Inmate.
