How to reduce the "Brightness" in Sony SCD-1?

202.64.230.43

As a owner of the player for 3 months, I'm quite happy with its performance at this stage, especially its SACD playback, which is truly excellent.

However, with the limited SACD available, I listen to the conventional CD 80% of the time. On conventional CD, I still hear some harshness and thinness in the strings, even with the best CD recordings. The slightly harsh string sounds puts me off quite a bit because I listen mostly to orchestral music.

Are there any ways to reduce the harshness? I'm thinking about using Transparent cables (because they are renouned for smooth and cultured mids and highs):
1. Change the power cord of SCD-1 with Transparent Powerlink; and/or
2. Change speaker cable to Transparent (model depend on budget, but I think it would be Ultra).

My other equipment includes:
Transparent Ultra and Cardas Golden Cross interconnect
Ayre K3+V3II
Egglestonworks Fontaine.

Any suggestions??

Many Thanks

Simon
