RE: SONY CDP-R1 and DAS-R1.

A terrific player of its vintage. My big reservation is with the transport and the availability of spares particularly the optical pickup unit which is basically a consumable. At the time it was produced the optimum life for lasers in CD players was estimated at around 10,000 hours. Think about that in relation to a player that was made in 1987.

As for alternatives I am unsure as the problem of current or even short term future OPU availabilty is always in my mind in respect of used players.
