Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

RE: my CD player died, what should i get at around 500?

They sound the same on my system and Ive owned two good CD player. The first was an Audio Alchemy DDS Pro transport with a DDE V3.0 DAC and the one I just replaced was an April Music Stello CDT100 transport with a DA100 Signature DAC. Files played from a USB flash drive on my TASCAM DA-3000 sound as good or better than any CD player I've heard.

The transport is inconsequential; it's the DAC that makes the difference. I made A/B comparisons between the Stello CDT100 Transport and a computer stream into the same Stello DA100 Signature DAC and the streamed digital sounds the same as playing a CD. I have a very high-resolution system, too.

Best regards,
John Elison
