If you really need to play your SACDs then you will need either an HDMI DAC that can accept SACD like the $3500 Bryston or get a really great SACD/CD player. Modwright is working up mods on a $1200 Marantz that he says sounds better than his modified Oppo 105. However this tube mod will cost you around 2K plus the Marantz. It does have a digital input so you could use it down the road for computer use. Oppo has a new DAC coming out with a better DAC chip than what is in the Marantz and I am sure it will sound even better than the Marantz with the same level of mods. However, it has no HDMI input for SACD. It will stream and you can plug in usb devices to play. Oppo is showing it at Rocky Mountain this weekend. Suppose to be around $800. There will several people who will be modding it for better sound.
Another esoteric thing you can so is to get one of the Sony Playstations that will output an SACD stream and burn all your SACDs to a computer and then you can play everything through a computer into a DAC.
