In some cases placement on the side may cause a problem.
Some DACS use a form of suspension to isolate the boards from external vibration (e.g. Naim do this). Obviously any such suspension may not function as intended if placed on end.
I have insufficient knowledge of the Moon products to know if this is or isn't the case here but it may be worth checking on.
