The Yamaha CDX-510U will not play burned discs so your memory is incorrect (mine is too on so many things). The user manual says " This unit has beem specifically designed for the reproduction of Compact Discs bearing the -(insert international CD logo here)- mark. No other discs should be loaded into the player."
