RE: AES/EBU Question

I suggest that you at least try the AES/EBU, perhaps with a modestly-priced cable first to get a sense of it. I don't use any of the components you mentioned, but I did find the AES/EBU to be an unmistakeable notch above the S/PDIF (coax, fiber, coax-BNC) with mine. An extra degree of blackness and a touch more clarity. Really depends how much effort the manufacturer put into the AES/EBU circuitry, clearly mine wanted that to be the "showcase" input.
