My Pioneer 606 is not noisy but it often has a problem tracking CD's. I never tried the DAC-1 with anything but the 606, and plan on trying a CD player as the transport tonight. Seems to me you may be on to something here, if the Pioneers are having a problem tracking they could very well be going into error correction and doing other nasties that may be buried under the music even when it isn't "clicking."I'll try a CD transport tonight and report back if there is an audible difference.
