Re: Finally the verdict is out....

To each his own.

A lot depends on the individual implementation on both of these.

On my twisted pair recipe, if the shield is not spaced away from the twisted pair enough, then the sound will not be as open or dynamic as it could be. If the wires are not twisted tightly, and kept tight with a teflon plumbers tape wrap, or if inferior heat shrink is used (PVC instead of polyolefin), etc. then it will not perform as well as it can.

On Chris's recipe, if the core used for the silver wires is not teflon tubing (cotton rope does not work nearly as well), or the tubing is stuffed with nylon instead of the cotton (or not stuffed at all), then the recipe will not be likely to perform as well as it can. Looseness in the wires will not help either.

Either recipe will not sound quite as good with a Techflex covering, due to less than perfect insulation qualities.

There are a lot of potential variables in the construction of both cables, and each person's system is different, each person's individual preferences and sonic concerns are different, so it is difficult to say with any authority that one is going to turn out sonically better than the other.
