It a bit of embarrassment to say this, but the reason the one interconnect was fitting so sloppily is because in removing the interconnect has pulled the inside of the female RCA right out of my amp and I did not notice it. My amp is still under a 5-year warranty and is being shipped back to the manufacturer for repair.
