I have a tri-amped system with active crossover. My bass amp (Bryston SST2) has had an ongoing hum problem. I was using Morrow MA-6 interconnects (unshielded as per Mike Morrow) with Eichmann RCA connectors. I changed the interconnects to a set of cheap $12 Radio Shack shielded RCA cables and the hum was eliminated! The Bryston amp manual says to use a set of shielded RCA interconnects. I then substituted a pair of VPI phono interconnects, thinking that the phono cables have better shielding than the Rat Shacks, and the hum came back. What's going on? Can you recommend a better sounding pair of shielded RCA interconnects? Thank you for any advice.
