If all you can do is go by theory since you cannot hear any difference?
Then for you it makes NO DIFFERENCE.
There is no audiophile fairy coming to your house when you are not home to 'check up' on your ""proper cables placement.. or die""
So.. If you have some music you are very familiar with on superb recordings.. Try the cables one way. Listen to the music. Then. swap the cables. Listen again.. Listen for subtle differences.
Swap back. Any changes you can hear? If YES, you have your answer. If no, then it makes absolutely NO DIFFERENCE.
Though in the future, if you add or change other stuff, you might go back to see if it still is a 'no difference' situation.
Some system and listeners can easily hear a change. Some systems are not sophisticated enough to show your ears the difference.
For my own system, I would say only the last big upgrade let me actually really hear differences in cables... And that was a jump from an average $1K/$2K up to an average of $5K per, with added power conditioners..
Asking where to put a cable is fraught with fantasy conjecture on the part of the 'gurus'. Though it might be fun reading all in all.
