Aural Symphonics AS-One Phono Cable???

I have had an Aural Symphonics AS-One phono cable that came with a turntable and tonearm that I bought used about 12-14 years ago. I was having some noise/connection issues at the rca end. It has WBT 0108 rca plugs, the type that are put together by crimping the wires with torx set screws.

Ok, I removed the plugs to shorten the cables by about 4".I was led to believe these were high end cables for their time. There were none of the crimping sleeves, that WBT usually uses. Then I found they had connected the white and black wire to the center pin, a red wire and shield to the ground connection. Here is what I find confusing, there is a green wire with a rubber sleeve over it on the plug end.

So, is it connected on the din socket side? Or did the guy just use some cabling he used for other types of cables that actually used four wires?

I wasn't too impressed with the company when in 2003 I got the linked response.
