Long runs of component A/V cable

Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

I would like to find out if anyone has any experience with long runs , about 28 ft. , of component A/V cables .
I want to know if it is possible to do without signal degradation .
I have read where HDMI is good to about 10 meters without a signal loss .
How about component cables ? Anyone with actual experience ?
