Cable Cooker - Part 2

Well, I got my speaker cables back from Alan at Audio Excellence Az after he cooked them up for me. Once I got them back, I let them settle in my system for about 15 hours or so before I started doing some critical listening.

All I can say is that I'm pretty amazed at what I've heard. I could immediately tell the difference as a lot of the upper treble grain and brightness was gone. I could particularly tell this on vocals (Diana Krall, etc), which were much smoother. In fact, when I sent them in, I would dare say they were pretty unlistenable to me. Vocals and horns were very irritating to my old ears. It makes me wonder how many people, myself included, have given up on cables before they are fully broken in. The cables have even changed some since I got them back, so following Alan's instructions to let them settle in my system was very important. I will give them quite a bit more time before deciding if they are for me, but I feel that now I am hearing their true character.

All I can say is that given what I have experienced, it was well worth getting these cables cooked up. Thanks Alan! You're a great chef!
