DIY silver speaker cables

After recabling to a full loom of excellent Parts Connexion/DH Labs Connex Ag-Bl balanced silver IC bulk cable, I began thinking about DIY silver speaker cables. I've had positive results with wide, thin copper foil, and figured on taking the same approach with silver. However sourcing wide silver foil at small quantity for a one-off project proved problematic. So here is what I came up with for a 2M cable set:

*1/4" x .013" .999 dead soft fine silver ribbon from Rio Grande. (These dimensions approximate Duelund 2.0 V2 and have similar feel of soft annealing.)

*4 foils per conductor approximates the crossectional area of a 9 AWG round wire. Each foil has a thickness of around 28 AWG to reduce skin effect.

*Wrap each foil with one layer of Teflon plumber's tape. Tedious work! Leave 2-3" inches of foil bare at each end so they will conduct across the stack when joined.

*Bind four foils per each conductor with a tight wrap of Teflon tape.

*Slip on a cotton or silk jacket and add spades of choice. So far I'm listening to them unterminated, pinched at tip by the four way binding posts.

They sound fantastic(with not a trace of etch or brittleness), and are relatively inexpensive in view of the declining price of silver.

System: Pass Labs XA-160.8 monoblocks into modified Merlin VSMs with Duelund internal wiring and ClarityCap MR.
