I also use a usb-spdif converter... a Musical Fidelity VLink 192...

which features XMOS conversion, dual oscillators and galvanic isolation. I use it with both my DACS. I find even with Async USB, which I have in both my Yulong DA8 (Sabre) and NAD M51, it still sounds better with the MF in place in all cases.
