A sensible discovery

I wanted to share a surprising discovery.

I am a veteran technician and system designer with over 25 years of industry affiliation both in the residential and studio markets. I have experience with all levels of equipment and have seen the absurd as well as the remarkable.

All that being said I have recently started to resurrect my personal 2 channel system in a separate room for both vinyl and hi-res listening. I am using Rega Brio r, Monitor Audio GX100 on Target stands. My sources are a Pro-ject Xpression with a BP Special EVO III and a Meridan Explorer using both a MBP 15" running j river and a Mac Mini running j river. I have a variety of cables I have spent plenty on. I have settled on a mix of Transparent, AudioQuest and Linn that really has my system singing.

Recently I was in the need of a shorter 3.5mm to RCA cable for my Meridian to Rega connection. I had been using a Transparent 2m flavor for two years and have enjoyed it. Out of curiosity I searched for something different from some one different. I stumbled across A manufacturer named out of Ghent Audio out of China. The cables looked intriguing and well built. No gimmicks and extreme claims. The cables were assembled using a quality mix of products from Canare and Palics and were dressed professionally. What really grabbed my attention was the price. At less than $20 USD and free shipping I jumped in and purchased a 1m cable.

The cable arrived the next week nicely package. The feel of the assembly and the look of the soldering was certainly done professionally. I could find no fault in the hand manufacturing and was eager the check them out. I was immediately impressed with the sound and performance when using hi-res files. My system is something I am very familiar with and I heard no change nor degradation when using the cable compared to my $300+ Transparent cable. I did switch back and forth a few times and found only a slightly more noticeable sense of air. But we are talking about a sense and not a dicernble difference.

I am not claiming a giant killer nor even a screaming audiophile bargain. What I am sharing is a very well made product using very well regarding parts. The cost alone is worth a look. In the high end and often in the high levels of hyperbole market of cables it is often rewarding to look elsewhere for sensible solutions.
