It has been my experience that reversing the speaker cable actually makes it sound better. But then reversing it again makes the original orientation better: more dynamic and cleaner.
After a prolonged period of use, reversing the cables several times and playing loud and what audiophiles call "rude" music, like heavy metal for about 15 to twenty minutes before reversing improves the cable significantly. This was before the days that break in discs were made, however.
These days, though, lazy bastard that I am, I simply use the Purist Audio Break in disc: easier and less work
